Welcome to Krk Island!
This year, you are once again invited to a weekend treat – Krk Bike Family Story – an interactive event on two wheels for the whole family. During the two days of guided cycling, you will get to know the cuisine and history of Krk Island and embark on a treasure hunt of the Krk's noble family Frankopan.
DAY 1, Saturday 16 April - Krk Bike Family Story – the story begins with a guided circular cycling route that will provide you with an insight into the historical and gastronomic richness of the island. The 25-km route, with 350 meters elevation, sets off from the Krk City center, leading you through Lakmartin, Kornić, Punat villages and ending back in Krk City. This interactive and fun route is a treat for all MTB families.
DAY 2, Sunday 17 April – a day that promises an adventure for the whole family. A treasure-hunt type event, which will lead you along a marked path, looking for clues that will help you find the location of the Frankopans' treasure.
Every participant will receive a prize. The first three winning teams that find the treasure will receive special prizes as set out below:

Krk Bike Family Story – the course of the tour:
Following a short ride through the historical heart of Krk City's old town, the route heads off along the Dražica promenade to the Koralj Hotel. The scenery of Krk City is left behind to access the road leading up to the marked cycling trail no. 8. The trail will lead us to the Golden Drops Path – through olive tree groves and drystone walls – a typical Krk landscape. It then heads on an off-road trail, followed by a demanding climb to the picturesque Lakmartin. Here we anticipate the first break, as well as a visit to the Magriž family farm, known for the production of authentic Krk Island cheese, with its distinctive taste and aroma.
After the local produce tasting, the tour continues through olive groves, up to the main road, and then connects to an easy coastal cycle path leading to Punat – one of the largest nautical centers in Croatia.
Since Punat stands out as the center of olive tree cultivation, tasting the "liquid gold" – the olive oil - will be organized at the refreshment point. The break will be an excellent opportunity to engage the children in a short game, "Hunt for the treasure of the Frankopans, Krk's noble family." The creative treasure hunt will be played by following the instructions of a professional guide. The route follows the coastline up to the cycling trail no. 6, to the Prniba peninsula – the perfect place for a relaxing off-road loop ride through the pine forest.
The route then follows the road back to the city of Krk, where restaurant Volsonis will provide all the participants with refreshments. Here they will also be able to see the archaeological site that shows more than 3000 years of history of the city of Krk.
Sunday, 17 April 2022 – Krk MTB Family Treasure Hunt

Krk MTB Family Treasure Hunt – tour course:
On Sunday, day 2 of the Krk Family MTB story, all riders will turn into explorers. With the help of a map, the guidelines along the route, and our guide, participants will embark on an adventure called "Hunt for the treasure of the Frankopans, Krk's noble family," following a marked path. At the beginning of the tour, all teams will be given a map with marked checkpoints, where "treasure keepers" will be waiting to provide them with puzzles and tasks related to the cultural heritage and history of the island and the Frankopan family. The answers will lead the participants to the treasure's location.

The Underwater Pirate Park is located in Punat (Punta Debij Beach). It is a unique experience where you’re able to both discover the maritime life and its treasure and feed the fish. The underwater journey lasts approx. 20 minutes and is carefully thought out; equally exciting for children and adults.

* It is recommended that all riders wear a helmet and have a spare bicycle tube. All riders must obey traffic rules and the provisions of the Traffic Safety Act. By signing the registration form, participants declare that they are aware of the risks and possible personal injuries while participating in the tour and disclaiming the organizers and third parties of any responsibility thereof.
* The bike tour is tailored for families and entails a basic physical fitness level, easily achieved through everyday cycling. The trails we ride are mostly macadam and gravel roads, with some paved roads along the way, so we recommend using only MTB bikes.
* Riders under 16 years of age MUST be accompanied by their parent(s) / Riders from 16 to 18 years old can part-take in the tour, provided that a parent's written consent has been submitted before the start of the tour.
* The event will take place according to the Covid-19 measures in place. It is mandatory to use a face mask when registering and gathering before going on a bike tour. Before coming to the event, it is necessary to measure the body temperature and give up participation if it is higher than 37.2 ° C. It is mandatory to adhere to the measure of physical distance of 1.5 m in the open. All participants are obliged to adhere to epidemiological measures to protect their health and the health of other participants.
* During the registration, we will keep records of participants containing the participant's name, surname, and telephone number. All collected data will be used exclusively for the Krk Bike Family Story, and will not be used for other purposes.
