Eco-action and music program at Zala: a fusion of art, ecology, and community spirit
In collaboration with the associations Obala naših unuka from Krk and Živa voda from Zagreb, a special environmental and musical initiative will soon take place in Stara Baška.
Through this event, the organizers aim to encourage citizens to engage in eco-volunteering, nature conservation, and collective action for the benefit of the local community, while rewarding all participants with small gifts, refreshments, live music performances, and socializing by the sea.
The initiative is organized in cooperation with local volunteers – boat owners from Punat – who will transport some of the volunteers to nearby beaches and coves around Stara Baška to remove waste. The collected waste from the beaches and surrounding areas, including the trail leading to the Church of St. Jerome, will be properly disposed of and recycled whenever possible.
The gathering of participants is scheduled for 4 PM so that citizens can take part after working hours, while the music program will begin around 7 PM, featuring the Baška singer-songwriter LES ORTEGAS and ŽIVA VODA TRIO (Borko Rupena, Mak Murtić, Karlo Ilić).
Representatives of the association Živa voda, which last year filmed a music video for MIMIKA ORCHESTRA on Prvić — where the idea for this initiative was born — stated:
“The community development association Živa voda promotes a strong identity rooted in ecology and positive social development. The music we create conveys messages of tolerance, peace, respect for tradition, and coexistence with nature. Our latest album, Medzotermina, reflects an ongoing concern for the state of the world and the various systems that constitute its evident wealth, while also warning about the consequences of communities living beyond the limits of natural resources.”
The organizers invite all interested citizens, island residents, volunteers, and nature lovers to join the initiative and contribute through their participation to preserving the natural beauty of our coastline. The initiative is supported by the Municipality of Punat and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
The music program is the highlight of the environmental gathering and beach clean-up initiative organized by the Obala association and the Mare Mundi Institute. While we clean the beaches, marine biologists will prepare interesting and educational surprises for us. Beach Bar Zala is opening the swimming season, and refreshments and prizes will be provided for all volunteers.
