‘FRIENDS OF THE SEA’ EXHIBITION 2019: INCOMPARABLY BLUE – NORTH ADRIATIC

In its tenth consecutive year, the ‘Friends of the Sea’ exhibition will once again be touring the town squares and promenades of the Croatian Adriatic coast.

During the summer of 2019, in 10 Croatian destinations, the exhibition will be seen by more than a million visitors.

ABOUT THE ‘FRIENDS OF THE SEA’ PROJECT In 2009 two companies from Rijeka, Livingstone and Astoria created a national cultural and tourism campaign called ‘Friends of the Sea’, with an objective to display large format photographs in the open in 10 Croatian towns (May to September). The intention was to draw the attention of the general public and the visitors to the role that photography plays in media culture and in promoting social responsibility, ecology and the preservation of the Adriatic Sea. After the trilogy with themes from under the sea, the sea’s surface and Mediterranean essays, followed by the historical series from the beginning of the last century and the ‘50s and ‘60s, the tenth year marks significant innovation! ‘FRIENDS OF THE SEA’ EXHIBITION 2019: INCOMPARABLY BLUE – NORTH ADRIATIC The Croatian Adriatic is one of the few areas in the world that has remained, only partly, intact and preserved.

There are many visitors who have no idea about what is hidden underneath. Along with the fish and corals, there is a very exciting world of historical stories and postcards. There is a growing need for the promotion of ecological awareness as well as cultural tourism through which its educational function is realized. "Incomparably Blue – North Adriatic" is the name of an extremely attractive set of photographs by Marino Brzac and Danijel Frka, experienced underwater photographers who have won a number of national and international championships, joining the ten top underwater photographers of the world (Top Ten Photographers of the World Championship). Exhibited photos were chosen by the expert team of the „Rovinj Photodays“ festival.
